“Gambling is possibly the worst idea when you’re unemployed,” we told Gwendy when we visited in LA. “Or maybe it’s the best idea,” she joked. At least I hope she was joking. Ayk and I aren’t the biggest fans of gambling (I’d rather spend money on something tangible, like clothes), and it’s reckless and foolish to gamble when you have no source of income. We’d rather be safe and have money to get back home.
Seeing a show here would have been amazing, but tickets were rather pricey. If this weren’t a month long trip of epic proportions and we weren’t unemployed, then we’d get ourselves some tickets and stay the night. Instead, we played the cards we were dealt (baa-zing!) and headed to Grand Canyon, our main destination, after savoring our last In-N-Out meal of the trip.
At least I got a picture of a glitzy sign.
On the left is a Neapolitan Shake. It pays to know the secret menu.
We didn’t take that many pictures since it was such a brief trip. Honestly, all you need to do to get a good sense of what Las Vegas looks like is to watch an episode of CSI and you’re golden.
Before leaving Nevada, we went to the Arizona side of the Hoover Dam, took a picture and then returned to the Nevada entrance, as per the park police’s nighttime policy. Why we couldn’t just drive through Arizona at night is beyond us. At least we got to drive over the newly built tall bridge.
Hoover Dam is in the back just barely lit.
